Hens are outstanding layers of large to extra-large brown eggs. They have docile and friendly personalities. They are vigorous and hardy. Hens range from solid iridescent black to glossy black with extensive gold flecking around the neck. Male Black Stars are black-and-white barred with a gold sheen. Males make good heritage meat birds, dressing out at around 4 to 4 1/2 lbs. at 5 months old when properly fed. |
