Today, we got the lab results back for our April 29th 1-Day Milk Test, and 12 new does are now pending starred. Butterfat was lower than we would have liked (probably due to diet change), but quantities were excellent. The does are:

We just found out that our buck Larkstone SP Grand Design *B made the 2021 ADGA Elite Buck List! He's in the 96th percentile, with a Production/Type Index 2:1 of 156, which puts him in 19th place for the highest PTI2:1 of all Nigerian bucks.
Grand's sire, Sugar Moon O Sky Pilot +*B*S, also made the Elite buck list this year, and Grand's dam, SGCH Sugar Moon RB Mine By Design 3*M, made the Elite list once again (she's been on the Elite list since 2016). We are pleased to announce that our buck MT Rivendells OLV Oliver Twist +S earned his AGS +S Star status based on the milk production of four of his daughters, Krebs Farm OT Clairebelle 2*M 2*D AR, Krebs Farm OT Steelic Mist 2*M 2*D AR, Krebs Farm OT Lacy 2*M 2*D, and Krebs Farm OT Missy Blue Eyes 2*D.
Oliver's kids consistently have very wide, open escutcheons and well-attached udders. He has particularly influenced our herd through his beautiful daughter Krebs Farm OT Clairebelle 2*M 2*D AR, whose offspring are very dairy with excellent rumps and escutcheons. Krebs Dairy Goats is pleased to announce that the following does earned ADGA and AGS Milk Stars on 1-Day and 305-Day Milk Tests in 2020:
~ Krebs SR Clairify 3*M 3*D (AR status pending) ~ Krebs SR Chantilly 3*M 3*D ~ Krebs SR Ladylove 2*M 2*D ~ Krebs SR Gretl 3*M 3*D ~ MT Rivendells AV Nyala 1*M 1*D ~ Krebs Farm OT Missy Blue Eyes 2*D ~ Krebs SR Dezzie 2*D ~ MT Rivendells HW Hot Tamale 1*D Krebs Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats is pleased to announce that Krebs SR Gretl 3*M and MT Rivendells AV Nyala 1*M have earned their ADGA Stars on 1-Day Milk Test. Their AGS Stars are pending.
Gretl is a sweet little goat who, despite the fact that she was one of the youngest and smallest does on milk test this year, held her own by producing 3.9 lbs. of milk as a first-freshener. Gretl has since moved to her new home (congrats, Kayla!). Nyala is a doe we're very excited about with that pedigree of hers. She has a beautiful first-freshening udder that's correct in every way. She produced 3.8 lbs. of milk as a first-freshener. This year Nyala had two handsome bucklings sired by CH Old Mountain Farm QuentinQuinn *B. We plan to retain one of the bucklings, and the other one will be available. Krebs Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats is pleased to announce that Krebs SR Chantilly 3*M 3*D and Krebs SR Ladylove 2*M (AGS Stars Pending) have earned their Stars on 1-Day Milk Test.
Chantilly is one of our favorite 2018 does, and this year she had an awesome buckling, Krebs QQ Cluny Quinn *B, by CH Old Mountain Farm QuentinQuinn *B. Ladylove has since moved to her new home, but we retained her daughter born this year, Krebs QQ Little Lady, also by CH Old Mountain Farm QuentinQuinn *B. We are pleased to announce that Krebs SR Clairify 3*M 3*D produced an impressive 5.6 lbs. of milk on her late-March 305/1-Day Milk Test. She is a two-year-old 2nd freshener. We are looking forward to seeing what her production will be on her 305-Day Test, which will be completed in October.
Several other does also did well on their 1-Day Milk Tests. We will announce who earned their Stars after we receive the official lab readout and registry results. Yesterday was our first test of our 2020 305-Day Milk Test. As hoped, Krebs Farm OT Clairebelle 2*M 2*D AR did great, producing 4.7 lbs. of milk. Krebs SR Clairify 3*M 3*D (who has kidded--more on that in my next post) also did very well, especially for having only freshened on February 17, producing 3.5 lbs.
Beginning a Milk Test each year can sometimes feel so overwhelming--milking, planning, cleaning, scheduling, paperwork--but it's worth it. Even though it is quite a commitment, nothing is better than a 305-Day Milk Test to show what a doe is truly made of in the milking department. Ten months of milking every morning and night gives you a highly accurate evaluation! Krebs Farm OT Clairebelle 2*M 2*D AR kidded this afternoon with triplet doelings sired by CH Old Mountain Farm QuentinQuinn *B. They're rather new to accurately evaluate yet, but I'm thinking that they will all be just as gorgeous as their full sisters and brothers who were born last year--long, level, wide, with high, open escutcheons. Belle's kids are always conformationally beautiful. These three doelings will be retained for now.
Belle is one of our favorite milking does. She has soft texture; a beautiful, well-attached udder that milks out well; large, easy-to-milk teats; and great orifice size. She is going on her second 305-Day DHIR Milk Test this year. Last year she produced 5.0 lbs. of milk on her 1-Day Test, so we are excited to see how much she'll produce on her second 305. She milks through extremely well. As mentioned in a previous post, our buck Sinai Thunder Asher's Judah +*B+*S earned his Plus title based on his daughters' production performance during 305-Day and 1-Day Milk Tests that we conducted in 2018-19. The nice thing about Stars and Pluses is that they can work far back in a goat's lineage . . . . We just received word from Sinai Thunder Farm, letting us know that Judah's sire, Sinai Thunder AG Asher ++*B++*S, earned his Two-Plus title this year, becoming Sinai Thunder's first homebred ++B++S. It takes two of his sons earning Pluses for a buck to earn a Two-Plus title, and in Asher's case, Judah is one of those sons. Krebs Dairy Goats is honored to have helped Asher earn ++B++S.
